Hardware Quality/Environmental Test Lab Engineering Lead

Job Summary:
·       Lead Engineer responsible for ensuring OT hardware products meet environmental, quality, reliability, and safety requirements

·       Serve as a senior member of the OT hardware engineering team in the validation and qualification of electronics products manufactured internally or at an external contract manufacturer

·       Participate in Engineering Design Reviews and help drive the hardware design to meet all hardware and product safety requirements

·       Lead and manage all hardware sustaining engineering activities including Process Change Notifications(PCN), hardware quality oversight, and product Failure Analysis

·       Work with Supply Chain Quality Lead to ensure all PCNs are dispositioned and processed to ensure product delivery, reliability and quality metrics are met and maintained

·       Responsible for initial review of all OT hardware product PCNs, and gathering inputs and requirements from internal stakeholders to drive approval/completion using the Agile software tool

·       Responsible for implementing and maintaining the Engineering Alert process

·       Assist in developing policies, procedures and methods in support of ISO-9001 quality system

·       Manage and lead all testing and projects in the Environmental Test Lab

·       Responsible for writing all environmental exposure test flows, plans and reports for DVT, Reliability, Industry Standards and Power Cycle testing include complete and accurate findings and recommendations

·       Train internal environmental test engineers or external test lab technical personnel in the use and support of lab test equipment and functional test programs

·       Provide forward-looking labor projections to meet customer and project demand

·       Define and maintain Omnitracs environmental test requirements list per vehicle mounting location(s)

·       Work independently and within a team to develop safety test requirements for new hardware products

·       Write and maintain detailed test equipment operating and maintenance procedures

·       Responsible for environmental test equipment maintenance and repairs, and managing testing services performed by outside vendors

·       Manage and track test lab equipment list and maintenance records

o   Submit maintenance logs and updates to Sharepoint




Management Responsibilities:




·       Prioritize along critical path and meet project milestones and deliverables

·       Schedule-driven and aware, while maintaining the Integrity of Quality position

·       Lead and direct team to ensure all design, reliability, and quality requirements are met

·       Ownership of and responsibility for meeting OT hardware product quality and reliability requirements at product lifecycle(s)

·       Create and manage test lab task assignments to closure using Jira resource task/tracking software tool

·       Track and present testing services status



·       Shows accountability and ownership of key responsibilities

·       Track and present hardware quality and safety metrics

·       Develop and present technical presentations

·       BSME or higher degree with 5+ years of experience, both in New Product Introduction and Sustaining or 10+ years of applicable work experience

·       Experience in various types of testing and processes; Qualification, Design Verification Testing, Environmental Stress Screening, System, and RMA

·       Proficient with environmental exposure testing lab systems and processes

·       Deep understanding and knowledge of Industry product safety standards related to telematics products

·       Experience operating and programming environmental test systems:

o   Electro-dynamic random and sine vibration

o   Temperature/Humidity test chambers

·       Experience in various types of testing; Qualification, Design Verification Testing, Functional, Environmental Stress Screening, System, and RMA

·       Experience using data acquisition systems and techniques

·       Superior verbal and written communications skills

·       Experience in utilization of Industry standards highly desirable:  SAE J1455, ISO 60068,  ISTA 2A, IEC 60529, and UL 60950

·       Experience in computer-aided-design and analysis highly desirable in Creo/ProEngineer (preferred) or SolidWorks

·       Proficiency in mechanical design and analysis highly desirable
