Role: Principal Data Platform Administrator &Custodian at Omnitracs
Location:  Dallas, TX (Preferred) or Willing to Relocate to Dallas

Omnitracs, a leading provider of Trucking solutions, is looking for a Principal Data Platform Administrator and Custodian that can manage the expansion and industrialization of the Data and AI Cloud cloud platform that is being constructed to support growing needs for data analytics and insights development, AI/ML applications and other internal and external data uses. Currently, we process millions of data points through multiple data pipelines to feed a suite of datastores and applications. We are preparing for +10x growth both in the volume of data processed and the speed in which that data can be available and actionable. The rapid growth of our foundational data asset, along with the increased reliance on it by various stakeholders, call for standardization of data ingestion and management processes, increased automation and instrumentation for production support as well as robust processes for the development lifecycle and governance around data models, multiple schemas rationalization in data lake and data warehouse, data security and data sharing with 3rd parties with a variety of integration patterns. To help us accomplish this, we are looking for someone with proven track record of working across the above areas in a complex environment, successfully collaborating with multiple stakeholder communities. This is a great opportunity for an experienced data management professional, with a strong background in traditional data warehousing as well as most advanced technologies and methods for big data and AI/ML, acquired during complex transformational journey(s) to become part of a strong team building up data and analytics foundation and innovative application solutions with a market leader.

Contribute to development of standards for data integration and management around the data lake and data warehouse, and provide guidance in implementations to production
Act as the hands-on lead data steward and custodian for data models, data dictionaries and catalog references as well as the actual data assets combined from multiple application areas contributing to the data lake, on behalf of application product owners
Be key representative in data model change management, as liaison with and custodian for different application areas contributing to the enterprise data asset
Work closely with data architects and data engineers to maintain up to date data references, enable and ensure operational standards in production data pipelines
Be a technical thought leader for data lake, data warehouse and operational processes lifecycle and tooling
Ensure production deployments and on-going operation of data pipelines meet compliance with data security and reliability
Collaborate with architecture and data engineering team members to implement and maintain agreed jointly data governance controls
Collaborate closely with IT on support models, day to day joint support activities, new technology deployment plans and tactical deployments or changes

10-15 years data management experience in the data warehousing, analytics and business intelligence, and big data analytics space
Experience guiding multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced agile environment working on high complexity and impact systems in a hands-on manner
Experience building and rationalizing large scale data environments with a large variety of data pipelines, with internal and external partner integrations, and with a variety of data interchange agreements
Experience using productivity tools for data pipelines construction, rapid deployment and operational standardization
Experience using Big Data technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka, EMR, Hadoop, S3) and Cloud Data Warehouse (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake, Big Query) to build and evolve large scale data lake(s) and data warehouse(s) with multiple types of user communities
Understanding of data security and data governance best practices
Experience with multiple databases (e.g., Teradata, Netezza, Postgres, MongoDB, MySQL, etc.)
Experience with cloud, especially data services technologies (e.g., Kinesis, Glue, RDS, Athena, Redshift, etc.)
Experience building out and/or rationalizing data warehouse infrastructure in the cloud
Experience deploying BI/Reporting tools (Looker, PowerBI, Tableau, QlikView etc.)
Oversight of Data DevOps and System Admin infrastructures
Strong communication skills
Demonstrated skill to relate to stakeholders and team members in a cross-functional setting
Lead-by-example contributor with passion, integrity, strong coaching and mentoring skills

Transportation, Automotive, Trucking industry experience
Experience with Location based use cases
Familiarity with Data Science exploration, modeling, model deployments
Familiarity with 3rd Party Data service provider and data interchange solutions
